 Going Paperless The Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project (YVCAP) was established in 2000 for women of Routt and Moffat counties to prevent or treat breast cancer which means all the money raised stays in the community. The effort began by placing collection boxes throughout Steamboat Springs and taking donations for handmade pink ribbons. In 2001, the signature fundraiser was launched called "The Bust of Steamboat." Each October artists submit decorated bras to be auctioned to the highest bidder at a live auction and reception. The only requirement for the entries is the piece must incorporate a bra or image of a bra in the design. This year's event is Friday, October 24th from 5-8pm at the Three Peaks Grill. |

Call Deb Curd at 970-846-4554  2006 Best of Show Bejeweled bras decorated with dazzling colors, fabrics and textures will be the entries for the 7th Annual Bust of Steamboat. It’s a fun and whimsical fundraiser for a serious subject – breast cancer. The bras will be on display for the month of October at local banks and then auctioned to the highest bidder at a reception and live auction on Friday, October 24th, 2008, 5-8pm at Three Peaks Grill.
In addition to 20 beautiful bras, there will be a 2009 Steamboat Ski Corp season ski pass for auction, live jazz music, delectable hors d’ oeuvres and fantastic wine. Be sure to bring extra $1 bills to place your vote for “Bust of Show”. The “Bust of Show” is awarded to the designer whose bra receives the most votes by the end of the evening.
All the money raised stays in Routt and Moffat Counties to help uninsured and underinsured women to pay for mammograms, annual wellness exams and assist in breast cancer treatment costs. Advance tickets sales locations will be annouced closer to the event. For more information call 970-846-4554.
